    Art Cabinet of La Cabrera

The small museum located in the regional center of Humanities is a space with a charm reminiscent of the early 19th-century museums, where the paintings or sculptures coexisted with the furniture and souvenirs. In 1998 the diplomat Carlos Manzanares and Herrero (1915-1999) his valuable collection of Flemish painting donated to the municipality of La Cabrera, German and Italian from the 16th to the 18th centuries, to which he added a magnificent series of engravings of 1610. In addition to the collection Manzanares, the art cabinet holds the veranda collection, donated to the community of Madrid by Mario Solana (1926-1999). This collection is dominated by Spanish painting from the second half of the 20th century, with works by Joan Ponç, Díaz Caneja, Beulas, Echauri, Grau Santos, Farreras or Hernández Mompo. The most relevant work is, Perhaps, the gouache Alexander Calder, Arabesque Black on green, of 1962, a composition of vibrant color and motion reminiscent of his extraordinary mobile sculptures.
