The municipality of Rascafría comprises two population centres: Rascafría which is the municipal seat and Oteruelo del Valle. Its territory "National Park of the Guadarrama Sierra" is located in, protected since the year 1930. In the monumental paragraph emphasizes the "monastery of Santa Maria de el Paular", located in the Valle del paular, at the foot of the Peñalara peak and along the Lozoya River, to 2 kilometers of Rascafría, in a spot of great scenic and cultural beauty.
