    THE SIERRA BRAOJOS

    San Vicente Mártir Church

    Known as the "Cathedral of la Sierra Norte", having 400 years of history and is the temple where dance Pastorale, an offering in the form of dance performed by men dressed in traditional costumes.

    This church has undergone repeated enlargements and patterns in its walls in different centuries. In terms of the structure of the building, the current plant is from the beginning of the 17TH century, a Latin cross the East-oriented. It has two naves and cupola on a cruise. His style is the classic Renaissance, a sober construction devoid of ornaments and shouldered rectangular. This church has one of the region's rich interiors.

    Inside the visitor can find altarpieces created by Gregorio Hernández in the Renaissance, paintings of the maestro Vicente Carducho or two slats attributed to Pedro de Berruguete "El Viejo". Also a baptismal in stone an image of a crucified Christ from the 14th century or 15th century. The Temple also has a small museum in the Tower, There are carvings of Saints and a chalice and custody of 17TH century game.

    The Tower consists of four floors of square base with clear military structure, whose attachments are just sketched in stones that remain and that will sustain an adarve or Barbican.

    On the lower floor is located the chapel of our Lady the Virgin del Buen Suceso.

    The second floor of the tower is accessed by the choir and is an impressive room vaulted in half-barrel with an original fireplace with horizontal flue. Here the Museum with one of the ornaments of rich Brocade and silk that have been preserved.

    The third floor of the tower is accessed by a spiral staircase, that takes the form of a beautiful and original semi abroad.

    The old timbering has been preserved in the ceiling and also old wooden steps leads to the belfry which is posterior to the structure of the tower and from where you can enjoy a spectacular panoramic view.
